Use your net (take-home) income, not gross. Not sure? Go back to Module 3.
Find expenses to cut. Start with wants. Common cuts: cancel 2 subscriptions ($30), reduce dining out ($80), coffee at home ($40).
Add to your income. Options: freelance project, sell unused items, negotiate a raise, add one side hustle shift per week.
Most budgets need a combination. Cut 50-70% of the gap, grow income for the rest.
Add 50% to savings, 50% to lifestyle upgrade. Never spend the whole raise.
Pull from emergency fund. Then replenish it over the next 2-3 months by temporarily reducing wants.
Immediately cut all wants to minimum. Protect needs and minimum debt payments first. Savings rate drops temporarily.
